52/52

For the last portrait of 2013, I wanted to re-create as best I could that very first image taken a year ago - best I could given a now fidgety, unwilling subject!  What a difference a year makes - just look at those long limbs, now reaching all the way to the chair's end.
I am so glad I continued with this project all year - although usually posting them late and in batches, it is remarkable and precious to have her growth, adventures and revealing personality documented in such a beautiful and authentic way.  Little slices of our everyday life, treasured memories for years to come.

We visited these amazing Christmas lights as we counted down the days until Santa arrived.  She was in absolute awe, as were we - clad in her pyjamas and wide-eyed in amazement.

Her Daddy designs roads, she likes to build them.  He might be just a little proud of this.

Quiet play on a very hot day.  Her movements are precise and delicate now, often such the lady.

A win for Mama today...
After much persuasion, pleading and eventual ninja-like manouvres, I finally managed to whip that permanent birds-nest-of-a-hairdo in to a ponytail!
Not a milestone granted, but given her utter disgust for having her hair brushed and total fear of hairbands, this was a major accomplishment for me.
You can still see a single tear resting on her cheek from the ordeal, even though she sat admiring herself in the mirror a solid 10 minutes afterward.

She has already asked me for another ponytail tomorrow.

All of a sudden she has developed a fear of slippery slides - only baby sized ones will do for now.
She has no problem climbing up ladders or furniture or just about anything she knows she shouldn't - think it must be that she is in control when climbing at her own pace, the free-fall of the slide just doesn't sit right with her.
Must be the Virgo in her?

In a week when I didn't pull the camera out often, this was a moment I just had to capture.  Although poor image quality, it still makes me smile - spying on her while she performs with gusto for her reflection in the mirror.
